Several of Manchester United's youngsters posed after a successful pre-season tour of the USA.
Louis van Gaal will be delighted with the way pre-season has panned out for Manchester United but he could be most pleased with the winning taste the club’s youngsters have just experienced.
There have been several standout performances from the club’s younger players over the course of the pre-season games from Reece James’ goalscoring exploits in the first match through to Jesse Lingard grabbing a goal against Liverpool in the final game.
Michael Keane, Andreas Pereira, Will Keane, Lingard, Tyler Blackett and Luke Shaw all posed with the ICC Cup after the game to produce an image which should bring a big smile to LvG’s normally serious face.
Considering the pressure Manchester United are going to be under once the competitive action gets under way, it will be a huge risk for van Gaal to use his younger players in the same way he’s deployed them during pre-season.
There is an abundance of talent in United’s youth ranks but it wouldn’t be a major surprise if van Gaal chooses to nurse the younger players in over the course of the season, dipping back into the transfer market to address any immediate concerns he has with his squad.
