Real Madrid midfielders Sami Khedira and Angel Di Maria have returned to training with the club amid speculation over their futures.
Khedira returns following a successful World Cup campaign with Germany, where he lifted the prestigious trophy beating Di Maria’s Argentina in the final.
Both players have been linked with moves away from the Bernabeu this summer for different reasons, and their presence in training with the European Champions is purely to ensure they abide by their contracts.
Khedira has just one year remaining on his deal, and has been linked with a move to Arsenal all summer. Bayern Munich have reportedly also enquired as to his services, but it is not certain where the 27-year-old will be heading.
Constrasting reports have been released over the last few weeks about Khedira, with some saying he is London bound, and others that he is on the verge of signing a new contract with Madrid. The club had reportedly been desperate to sell him rather than let him go for free next summer, while Arsenal have supposedly had trouble agreeing a fee and personal terms for the German.
As for Di Maria, it is thought he is not happy with his position at the club, and feels undervalued by boss Carlo Ancelotti. He has been linked with a move to Manchester United, but Paris Saint-Germain looks the more likely move judging by press coverage.
It is thought Di Maria will be loaned out to the French Champions for a fee, and then sold permanently next summer. Ancelotti has expressed his desire to hold on to the Argentine, with the futures of both players set to be decided in the coming weeks.
