Oscar has welcomed Chelsea's Filipe Luis to the club after returning to training recently.

Oscar appears to have been delighted by the arrival of Chelsea new-boy Filipe Luis.

The Brazilian attacking midfielder returned to training this week after being given an extended leave of absence this season due to his commitments at the World Cup, and he appears to have been pleased by the Blues’ summer spending.

He posted a picture alongside Luis on Instagram with the caption: “It's very good to be back, and meet my friend Filipe Luis again!”

The Brazilian pair know each other from playing in the national team together, although Luis was not part of the Brazil squad that competed at the World Cup this summer.

In the tournament, the Selecao slumped to a fourth-placed finish and in doing so caused widespread disappointment across the demanding host nation.

Oscar was one of their better performers, but he still could not stop them failing to meet expectations and he will be hoping to have a more enjoyable campaign back at his club side this season.

Chelsea go into the campaign as pre-season favourites to win the title in England’s top tier and, with the quality that manager Jose Mourinho has at his disposal it is easy to see why.

Cesc Fabregas, Didier Drogba and Diego Costa have all joined Stamford Bridge this summer, alongside Luis, adding quality to a squad which already possessed some real talent.

Luis will be expected to fill the void left by the departure of Ashley Cole to Roma. The experienced defender lost his place in the starting line-up to Cesar Azpilicueta last year, who performed admirably out of position, and Mourinho placed a left-back as one of his top priority signings this summer as a result.

It is expected that Luis will come in as first-choice in this position, with Azpilicueta allowed to play down his favoured right-hand side to add further solidarity to a defence who were hard to break down last season.

What is also noticeable is the energy of both full-backs, and they will be able to support an attacking force which possesses creativity, power and finishing prowess this season.

It is, therefore, evident to see why spirits are so high at Chelsea and it seems as if this positive attitude is infectious with Oscar being the latest of a host a Chelsea players to welcome the new arrivals to the club.
