Ahead of Wednesday’s MLS All-Star game against Bayern Munich in Portland, New York Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry was reunited with his former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola.

New York Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry has already been reunited with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger this pre-season, and now he’s met up with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola too.

Currently on their mini-pre-season tour of the US, Guardiola’s Bayern Munich side are set to play the best of MLS in Wednesday’s All-Star game, in which Henry is making his fourth consecutive appearance, and the two were the star attractions of Monday’s press conference in Portland, Oregon.

Originally joining Barca from Arsenal in 2007, Henry would go trophy-less in his first season with the Spanish club but the appointment of the former Spain international in his second campaign at the Nou Camp would see the club win an historic treble in 2008-09, with the Gunners legend contributing 26 goals in 42 games towards their success.

Going on to add the Supercopa de Espana, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Cup World Cup in the second-half of 2009 to achieve an unprecedented sextuple, the Frenchman would leave the club the following summer to join the New York Red Bulls, having won a second successive La Liga title, but is still bidding to win a first MLS Cup in the final season of his contract with the US outfit.

Also in attendance on Monday was Bayern star Franck Ribery, Henry’s former international teammate, as well as the club’s new star signing Robert Lewandowski and US prospect Julian Green, whose new-found international status made him an obvious draw for fans and the media alike.

On the MLS side, Portland Timbers and All-Star head coach Caleb Porter was there to field questions too, along with domestic stars Clint Dempsey and Matt Besler, who will both be in the lineup for Wednesday night’s matchup.

Having convincingly won the domestic double in Guardiola’s first season in charge, Bayern won’t be taking this game quite as seriously as their opponents, but they will still be sure to give Henry and his teammates a tough test, even in pre-season mode.
