Gunners supporters were excited to welcome their marquee signing to the club last weekend.
Arsene Wenger's ability to not only lure Alexis Sanchez away from the star-studded Barcelona roster but also away from the clutches of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been referenced in a new chant at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal fans have wasted no time in creating a song written specifically for their Chilean sensation.
The lyrics begin with a fairly innocuous line: "He came to us from sunny Spain, Sanchez, Sanchez…"
However, it then takes a predictable turn as the Gunners fans write in their rivalry with Tottenham Hotspur and the player's preference for the capital city over Merseyside.
"He hates the scum from down the Lane, Sanchez, Sanchez, he chose to come to London town and turn the f****** Scousers down, Alex Sanchez number seventeen."
Sanchez started the 1-0 loss to AS Monaco on the Sunday as an attacker but was then moved even further up the pitch in the second off after Olivier Giroud was substituted.
"Of course I loved [the reception from the fans]," commented Sanchez after the match. "I am extremely thankful to all of them. I am extremely happy and I hope I can make them very happy as well."
