Report – AC Milan meet with Arsenal star’s agent

Arsenal striker Joel Campbell is the subject of strong interest from Italian giants AC Milan.

Arsenal striker Joel Campbell is making headlines in Italy as AC Milan up the ante in a bid to lure the player to the San Siro, possibly on loan.

The Serie A giants are currently in the midst of a hectic summer of change as they look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign where they failed to qualify for European football.

Exciting, younger players seem to be high on the agenda this summer and in the eyes of the Milan board led by new sporting director Rocco Maiorino, 22-year-old Campbell is the perfect choice.

According to Sky Sports Italia, Maiorino and head scout Salvatore Monaco had a positive meeting with the player’s agent after watching him during Arsenal’s 5-1 Emirates Cup victory over Benfica.

“Milan had sent sporting director Maiorino and head of scouting Monaco to observe him in person. Today they met with the player’s agent and the results were positive, Campbell is open to a move to Italy since he is intrigued by opportunity to be a key piece in Milan’s project.” The report claims.

The report goes on to say that a meeting between Milan and the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is expected to take place over the next couple of days.

Despite AC Milan’s intentions, the final decision will ultimately be down to the French coach who so far appears reluctant to allow him to leave. Following the match on Saturday, he told reporters that “there is no reason to let him go” and at this moment in time he “wants him to stay”.

Whilst Campbell isn’t expected to be a first-team regular at the Emirates this season, his ability to play in multiple positions in the final third makes him a valuable member to the squad.
