A picture has been released showing Gareth Bale attempting to take a ‘selfie’ on the pitch before Real Madrid’s game with Manchester United on Saturday.
Bale was taking the picture in the centre-circle on the pitch in Michigan, before manager Carlo Ancelotti snuck up behind to ‘photobomb’ his attempted snap.
The Welshman saw the funny side as his boss walked on by, but the smiles were soon wiped off both men’s faces when they came up against a superior Manchester United side.
United beat the European Champions 3-1 to secure a spot in the Champions Cup against Liverpool on Monday night, despite Bale getting on the score sheet.
Bale had scored a penalty in the first-half to rule out an Ashley Young opener, but another goal from Young and a third from Javier Hernandez eventually saw Madrid fall to their third defeat of pre-season.
The Spanish giants will now head to Cardiff for the UEFA Super Cup final next week, where they will take on La Liga counterparts Sevilla. They will then contest the Spanish Super Cup final against local rivals Atletico Madrid, with the chance to win two trophies before the league season even starts.
Madrid should not be too worried about their poor pre-season going into the new campaign, as the squad that competed contained barely any of their big names.
Cristiano Ronaldo made a cameo appearance against United, but missed the rest of Real’s preparations along with Karim Benzema, James Rodriguez, Angel Di Maria and Toni Kroos.
