Chelsea fans react on Twitter to Courtois debut against Werder Bremen

Chelsea fans finally got to see Thibaut Courtois in a Chelsea shirt on Sunday, but what did they make of his performance?

After three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid - in which time he has become one of the best goalkeepers in Europe - Thibaut Courtois finally pulled on a Chelsea shirt on Sunday.

The Belgian played 45 minutes of the Blues' pre-season friendly against Werder Bremen, and despite pulling off a wonder-save early on he would ultimately concede two goals before making way for Petr Cech.

A penalty from Eljero Elia and a smart header from Ludovic Obraniak sent the German side in 2-0 up at half time and ensured Courtois did not earn a clean-sheet on his Chelsea debut.  However, he did enough in the opening period to suggest he could start the season as Jose Mourinho's number one.

Cech too was beaten, if only once, when Felix Kroos netted a late penalty of his own.  And it will be interesting to see how the battle for the gloves at Stamford Bridge goes in the weeks and months ahead.

It is a good problem for Mourinho to have.  But he will ultimately have to disappoint one excellent goalkeeper.

After the match, we took to Twitter to see what Chelsea fans made of the performance of their young Belgian international.  You can read a selection of what we found below:
