Arsenal latest: Crowley contract, Giroud quotes and reported rivals for Spaniard

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Emirates…

Arsenal teenager Daniel Crowley has signed a professional contract with the club the day after his 17th birthday.

The midfielder confirmed the deal on his Twitter account on Monday afternoon, posting a picture of the moment he put pen to paper.

Big things are expected of Crowley, who has been compared to Jack Wilshere and could be one of the next young players to break through at the Emirates Stadium.

In other news, the Daily Mail reports that Olivier Giroud believes he is ready to be Arsenal’s go-to front-man once the Premier League season kicks off in less than a fortnight.

Speaking after the Emirates Cup and ahead of the Community Shield against Manchester City next weekend, Giroud said, “We just have to work at our training and we have a fantastic test on Sunday. We will be ready I think because we want to win this first trophy.”

And finally, Talk Sport claims Napoli are considering rivalling Arsenal for Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa.

Following earlier claims that the Gunners were interested in the former Liverpool man, now the Italian club are said to be circling.

But if we pause for a moment of sanity amidst the craziness of another transfer window, it is unclear why Arsenal would move for a player who predominantly plays at right-back given the presence of Mathieu Debuchy, Hector Bellerin and Calum Chambers at the club, and the fact that the latter can also cover at centre-back as he proved so effectively at the weekend.
