The Saints are in desperate need of new signings after seeing their squad capitulate over the course of the summer.
This coming week could be a big one for Southampton and their fans as new arrivals are expected to be imminent. Another name that can be added to the list of targets is the one of United wonderkid Demetri Mitchell.
According to The Mirror, Koeman is interested in bringing the 17-year-old left-winger to St Mary's stadium on a season-long loan after hearing of his 2014 Milk Cup exploits.
A young United side won the Premier Section Final of the Dale Farm Milk Cup over the weekend and Mitchell was one of the standout player throughout the tournament.
He scored four goals in the United's opening game against Gold Coast Academy, and should have had a goal in the 1-0 final win over Vendee, but he saw his freekick denied by the crossbar.
Mitchell has also represented his country at youth level; the youngster scored three goals in seven appearances for England’s under-16s seven times, and one goal in 12 appearances for the under-17s. He was also part of the under-17 squad that won the under-17 European Championship in May.
It's believed Koeman is an admirer of the winger's ability to beat his opponent and his composure in front goal. The Dutchman will have to act quick if he wants to get his man though, as the Mirror report claims he 'has already attracted a clutch of interest from English and European clubs'.
