Did you know reported Arsenal target William Carvalho is a fan of the club?
The £37 million valued midfielder is subject of reported interest from the Gunners at present, and his own affection for the North London side may just help him try to push a deal through.
The Guardian reported earlier this summer: "Carvalho played as a No10 and loved Thierry Henry, becoming an Arsenal fan. Over the years, he started going back in midfield and you can see him as a mix between Yaya Touré and the classical Patrick Vieira."
Carvalho is a defensive midfielder who has the capability to become one of the very best, impressing in limited showings at the World Cup.
He was an integral part of the Sporting Lisbon side which finished second in the Primeira Liga last season, elevating his reputation in the process.
Carvalho had been heavily linked with Manchester United earlier this summer, with Monaco also interested, yet he remains a Sporting player and recently commented that he was now looking forward to the season ahead.
Interest from Arsenal, reported by The Telegraph, has the potential to rapidly change his mindset, offering him the opportunity to join his boyhood idols.
Sporting are holding out for his £37 million release clause, and are not thought to be willing to move from this, but if Carvalho begins to agitate for a move it could see them lower their demands.
Sami Khedira is a far more mostly option in terms of wages for Arsenal, with Carvalho's ceiling in terms of talent potentially higher.
Signing him up this transfer window would be a major coup, with Real Madrid also previously linked, and the passion he would add to his role at the Gunners could see him become a very popular player among the support.
