Everton’s bid to sign Chelsea player on loan reportedly 'hits a stalemate'

Everton’s bid to sign Chelsea youngster Christian Atsu has reportedly hit a stalemate.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is reportedly still pushing for more transfers despite recently smashing the Toffees' transfer record with the £28million acquisition of Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku became the third summer signing after Gareth Barry and Muhamed Besic also moved to the blue half of Merseyside, and they were then joined by youngster Brendan Galloway from MK Dons on Saturday.

Martinez’s proposed fifth signing of the summer was Chelsea youngster Christian Atsu on a season-long loan deal, although the deal has supposedly hit a snag according to Sky Sports journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Despite the details being unknown, missing out on the exciting youngster could be a big blow for Everton given what the 22-year-old has to offer.

Described as an excellent prospect by the BBC and a quick, technically impressive potential future star by ESPN the Ghanaian international winger has certainly made his presence felt.

Atsu initially shot to promise at Portuguese outfit Porto, winning the league title in 2012/13 season before moving to the Blues in the summer of 2013.

He was then immediately loaned out to Eredivisie outfit Vitesse on a season-long loan deal for the 2013/14 campaign and he played a key role in the club’s title challenge.

The youngster made a total of 28 appearances for the Dutch side, scoring five goals in six games and earning praise throughout the Dutch media.
