Serie A transfer latest: Fellaini-Napoli deal 'close', Leeds target holds talks with another club

All the latest summer transfer rumours from Serie A...

Manchester United's signature of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera means that one midfielder's future has been put in doubt. Belgian international Marouane Fellaini endured a difficult first season at Old Trafford after his £27.5m move from Everton last summer, and has subsequently been linked with a move away from the club.

New manager Louis van Gaal doesn't seem entirely convinced by the 26-year-old, and Serie A side Napoli have been the team most interested in ending Fellaini's United hell. Now, reports suggest that a loan deal has been agreed between the two clubs, with United paying a proportion of the former Standard Liege man's wages.

Elsewhere, AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli continues to be linked with a move away from the San Siro. Arsenal had been linked with a move to sign the former Manchester City striker, but now it's their Premier League rivals Liverpool who are believed to be looking at making a £14m swoop.

If the Italian international does leave the club, then new manager Pippo Inzaghi will need to bring in a new striker. Monaco's Falcao is a reported target for Real Madrid, but having recovered from a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in January, Milan are hoping to take the Colombian to Italy.

Finally, Leeds United have been bringing in plenty of players from Italy after the takeover of Massimo Cellino. Marco Silvestri, Gaetano Berardi, Tommaso Bianchi and Souleymane Doukara have all arrived at Elland Road this summer, and the club had been locked in talks to sign Roma midfielder Federico Viviani.

However, the deal for the 22-year-old has stalled in recent weeks, and Leeds could now miss out on his signing completely after it was revealed that Viviani is in talks with Serie B outfit Latina.
