Keylor Navas will be officially unveiled to the Madrid fans at the Bernabéu on Tuesday.
Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa has welcomed Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas to the club, after it was confirmed that he would be joining the Spanish giants.
Navas has signed a six-year deal at the Bernabéu, and will likely end the battle for the number one shirt between Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez.
Lopez has been linked with a move to Monaco after Madrid reportedly decided that he must be the one to leave and accommodate Navas.
The 27-year-old joins from Leavante following his successful World Cup campaign in Brazil this summer, and has already received a warm welcome from Madrid stars.
Arbeloa took to Twitter to welcome the goalkeeper to the European Champions, and also said that he and Cristiano Ronaldo would help him gain fitness following his lengthy break.
Arbeloa has been linked with a move to Arsenal over the last few days, as Arsene Wenger reportedly continues his search for another full-back. The Spanish media though have claimed Arbeloa wouldn’t be interested in a move, and is happy at Madrid.
Navas becomes Madrid’s third summer signing after Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez. The three provide proof that the World Cup is still the best place to perform to encourage a transfer, with all three having stellar tournaments.
Right-back Arbeloa did not make the cut for the Spanish squad in Brazil this summer, having featured heavily in their recent success at international level. He will also face stiff competition from the likes of Dani Carvijal this season, for a battle to start alongside Navas in goal.
