Courtois vs Cech competition is 'no problem' for Jose Mourinho

Mourinho has revealed that Chelsea's current goalkeeping competition presents no problem for him in the upcoming season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that it was a logical decision to bring Thibaut Courtois back to Stamford Bridge this season and that he will have no problems with the goalkeeping situation that his return has caused.

Courtois is in direct competition with Blues legend Petr Cech for a place in goal this season and both of Mourinho’s stoppers will be aiming to get regular first team football at Stamford Bridge.

The duo have both commented that they will be driven to improve by the competition that they face, but it will be a tough task for Mourinho to keep both of the custodians happy throughout the season.

It is one he feels that he is up to, however, and he insists that he will have no trouble leaving one of the two out of his starting line-up.

“It was logical that Courtois had to be back," Mourinho said. “It would be nonsense to have such a fantastic young goalkeeper and not to have him back. That decision was an easy one.

“If I have to make a decision for Cech to be on the bench, or for Courtois to be on the bench, it's no problem for me. I will do what I think is the best.”

Courtois has spent the last three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid, where he has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers on the planet.

He was first seen in a Chelsea shirt in their friendly against Werder Bremen today and he will be hoping that it is the first of many starts this season.

At almost any other club across world football it undoubtedly would be, but Cech has become a hero at Stamford Bridge and displacing him is no guarantee.

What Mourinho, therefore, must ensure is that neither of his duo become unhappy. He will want to keep both at the club, but doing so may be hard and Chelsea fans will be hoping that he is true to his word and will cope with what looks to be a difficult scenario for him to manage.
