Spurs player ratings from 6-1 rout of Celtic - Holtby, Lamela, Ade net in impressive performance

Tottenham's penultimate friendly of their pre-season saw a superb attacking display, hammering Scottish champs Celtic with six different scorers.

Brad Friedel 6.5/10 - Had very little to do until later on in the first period. Saved from Teemu Pukki’s long range strike 10 minutes before half time, and Friedel then looked to make a double save to keep the ball out of the net, though Jamie Lindsay’s header was deemed to have made it over the line.

Kyle Naughton 6.5/10 - Naughton enjoyed a fairly trouble free game, linking up well with those ahead of him. Showed some great skill late on in the first half to keep possession with several Celtic players tight on him.

Younes Kaboul 7/10 - The Frenchman looked strong and quick after his first injury free pre-season for a couple of years. Took over the captain’s armband once Dawson went off, and marshalled the defence well.

Michael Dawson 6/10 - Seemed to turn his ankle after landing from a header. Substituted before 20 minutes passed. Was a shame as he looked solid alongside Kaboul.

Ben Davies 6/10 - The young Welshman continued to look very comfortable in this Spurs team, strong coming forward despite the odd stray pass.

Etienne Capoue 7.5/10 - Was busy and able to nullify Celtic from his defensive midfield spot. Made a few strong challenges and looks to have benefitted enormously from the pre-season. Super bit of play to set up Holtby for his goal.

Lewis Holtby 8/10 - MOTM - Once again had an outstanding game, combining especially well with his forwards. Squared for Soldado to score. The German got his own goal just before half time after an outstanding slipped pass by Capoue.

Ryan Mason 6/10 - The 23-year-old struggled a little more than he did in the games in North America, with a few loose touches and overhit cross field balls.

Andros Townsend 7.5/10 - Showed that he is a real option on the left hand side with a superb run past John Herron down the wing, and then providing a superb cut back for Kane to score. Went on to roam across the pitch and also put in a great cross from the right that the Spaniard just nodded wide.

Harry Kane 7.5/10 - Did well playing just off Soldado, seeing a little more of the ball and showing his range of play. Great finish from Townsend’s cutback. Then carried the ball forward superbly in the lead up to to the side’s second goal.

Roberto Soldado 6.5/10 - Had his shot saved point blank, before rifling home. There was a fluidity to the the Spurs forward line that suited all the players, though Adebayor offered a little more in the second period.

Zeki Fryers (Dawson 18’) 6.5/10 - Slotted in well in Dawson’s place, and covered at least once with his pace.

Danny Rose (Davies 46’) 7/10 - Fresh from signing his new contract, Rose was a little better than Davies during his second half on the pitch, combining well in attacking positions. Won the penalty after being brought down by Efe Ambrose.

Nabil Bentaleb (Mason 46’) 6.5/10 - The first World Cup player to feature in pre season, the Algerian returned from a superb World Cup to be a much more positive option than Mason. Was more tenacious, calmer in possession and with stronger passing than the Englishman.

Christian Eriksen (Holtby 46’) 7/10 - Operating in a slightly deeper position with Erik Lamela on the field, but able to use his range of passing to still be influential. Will be interesting to see how Pochettino accommodates the two in the Premier League. One super cross from the right towards Adebayor. Scored a super free kick late on.

Aaron Lennon (Townsend 46’) 7/10 - Though he didn’t have as influential a game as Townsend in the first half, was still busy and dangerous during the second half. Made a great run into the box to set up Emmanuel Adebayor with ten minutes to go, only for the Togo man to hit the post.

Erik Lamela (Kane 46’) 8/10 - Wonderful turn from the Argentine before smashing a left footed shot from distance that deflected past Craig Gordon. Several other impressive touches from the former Roma man who looks more and more a central figure on the pitch. Expect big things from this boy come the start of the season!

Emmanuel Adebayor (Soldado 46’) 7/10 - His first minutes of preseason, Adebayor was prepared to slow down the play to bring more players into the game, and naturally represented an increased aerial threat for the club. Understandably looked a little tired after his recent bout of malaria, and produced a couple of weak efforts on goal before growing into the game. Hit the post with a good chance after Lennon’s run and cross, before scoring with a penalty in the last few minutes.

Sandro (Capoue 70’) 6/10 - First touch was a sloppy one, being dispossessed in midfield, but he quickly slotted into the game.

Ryan Fredericks (Naughton 70’) 6/10 - Came on late and made a couple of strong runs down the right hand side.

Milos Veljkovic (Fryers 78’) 5.5/10 - A late substitute appearance for the young Serb.
