Reports in Spain claim Atletico Madrid want Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal, but that the Spaniard wishes to remain in North London.
Monreal has made 47 appearances for Arsenal since his move to the club, scoring one goal and providing two assists in that time.
But despite not getting as many games as he may have hoped for, the report claims the 28-year-old wishes to remain where he is.
Arsenal have strengthened considerably this summer, and considering the number of games Arsene Wenger’s side are expected to play next season, he will want as many quality players at his disposal as possible.
He has already showed the importance of having cover in key positions, with Calum Chambers following fellow right-back Mathieu Debuchy to the club. And Wenger is unlikely to want to part with Monreal, who offers excellent cover for Kieran Gibbs on the opposite flank, as well as being able to operate further up the pitch if required.
Do you think Monreal will be vital part of Arsenal's squad next season?
