On this day: Wenger gives Suarez ultimatum; Ronaldo £80m return 'exclusive'

On the 2nd August 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 2nd August 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 2nd August 2013…

Suarez must behave

A year ago today and Arsene Wenger was talking about what he expected from Luis Suarez if he did sign the Uruguayan.

The striker was the main transfer target of Arsenal's this time last year and they were desperate to get him, with a £40,000,001 bid going in for the player in July.

But the controversial striker had gained a reputation for some of his non footballing antics - including a charge for racially abusing Patrice Evra and biting Branislav Ivanovic.

But Wenger said he would have to behave at The Emirates:

"We have values that we want our players to respect. No matter where they come from we will be of course very touchy on that. This club has built a reputation not only over my years here but over 130 years, and values that are very important for this club have to be respected by every player, no matter where they come from. And that will be with every potential signing."

They needn't of worried, Suarez never came. But his behaviour didn't change either - he is currently serving a ban for sinking his teeth into Giorgio Chiellini during this summer's World Cup.

Ronaldo return

It was reported in a 'WORLD EXCLUSIVE' that Cristiano Ronaldo was in advanced talks about a return to Manchester United.

The Red Devils were reportedly set to offer Real Madrid £80 million for their former star - as Real Madrid were set to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur.

Of course it didn't happen, but a year down the line Ronaldo, who signed a new contract at the club last season, has admitted that he will not rule out one day returning to Manchester United.
