With the young defender set to link up with Tottenham before the start of the season, fans will be impressed with what he had to say about himself.
Sporting Lisbon centre back Eric Dier is on the cusp of a move to Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur after the North Londoners bid the required £4 million transfer fee to activate his release clause.
And he has already stated that he sees himself as a unique player, very much like one of England's best modern day defenders, Rio Ferdinand.
Dier's switch to White Hart Lane has drawn some criticism from the Portuguese side, especially towards representatives of the young defender.
But when the dust settles, and Spurs realise they have one of the country's most promising defenders on their books, that will matter little.
Dier famously spent the vast majority of his footballing career in Lisbon, barring a short loan stint at Everton as a 17-year-old.
However the player has already talked to BBC Football Focus in the past, and had some interesting observations on his game that should leave Tottenham fans very excited regarding his arrival.
"An English player mixed with a Portuguese player is a great outcome.
"The English drive and the Portuguese technique and their calmness when they play football would be a great mixture.
"Without sounding big-headed I'd put myself down as a Rio Ferdinand type."
Spurs will get the chance to see how much of what the England Under-21 star says is true in the near future.
Will Dier be able to gatecrash Tottenham's first team this season?
