Milan to treat Liverpool as must-win

New AC Milan boss Pippo Inzaghi has only just started life with the senior side, but the Italian press suggest he is under pressure to beat Liverpool.

AC Milan have had a tough pre-season so far and are reportedly desperate to deliver a win against Liverpool in tomorrow's Guinness International Champions Cup encounter.

Milan replaced Dutchman Clarence Seedorf with Pippo Inzaghi as coach at the end of last season, moving Inzaghi up from the youth team.

But Inzaghi has had something of a baptism of fire with the Rossoneri losing 3-0 to Olympiacos and 5-1 to Manchester City in the Guinness International Champions Cup.

Although pre-season competitions must be taken with a pinch of salt, Tuttosport suggests that Inzaghi needs to turn things around by beating Liverpool in Charlotte.

The Italian newspaper claims that after conceding eight goals in two games, a further defeat could have 'devastating effects' on Milan.

Inzaghi is said to have poured his energies into preparing the team as best he can ahead of their next match and is treating it like a Serie A game.

It is reported that the Milan coach has been especially keen to focus on the psychological aspect of turning around a losing run.

He has also reportedly asked his players to focus better having seen several sloppy goals given away so far in pre-season.

AC Milan v Liverpool kicks off at 6.30pm tomorrow local time in North Carolina, which is 11.30pm in the UK.
