Garry Monk confirms Swansea interest in Spurs defender

Swansea manager Garry Monk has confirmed that Kyle Naughton is a target for the club but admits that no offer has been made as of yet.

Garry Monk has revealed that Kyle Naughton is one of a "number of players" that Swansea are chasing ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The club are looking for a full-back to replace Ben Davies, who made the move to Tottenham earlier in the window and Naughton could head the other way as his replacement.

The versatile English defender can play at left-back, though is naturally a right-sided defender and has played on both flanks for Spurs over the past two seasons.

Reports earlier this week suggested that the Swans had made an approach for the 25-year-old, but Monk claims that no offers have been made for any of their targets as of yet.

"We're looking at a number of players. We're going to get linked with players left, right and centre and I think we've been linked with just about everyone this summer.

"We are looking at him [Naughton], but we're looking at a number of players. We're talking about a player who's with another club, so I don't want to disrespect anyone.

"That's just me looking. We've made no offer for any other player. We have to find the right target and do the right deal to bring them into the club," Monk said speaking to the South Wales Evening Post.

Danny Rose signed a new five-year contract a Spurs this week and Naughton looks surplus to requirements at the club as a result following the capture of Davies and Kyle Walker's return to action.

Naughton has made over 60 appearances for Tottenham since making the move from Sheffield United in 2009 but has failed to establish himself as a regular in the starting lineup, with his best run in the side coming at the end of the last campaign as a result of Walker's injury problems.

A move to Swansea could see the defender shine consistently as a regular starter, though no move has been made yet according to the Swansea boss.

Would Naughton be a good addition for Swansea?
