Arsenal have missed out on signing teenage prospect Georgios Spanoudakis from Barcelona.
The Metro claimed earlier this month the prospect had 'signed' for the club, later changing their article to state they were simply 'closing in' on the youngster - but maintained he was even training with the Gunners.
The central midfielder has indeed now left Barcelona, but he has signed a deal with Bundesliga side Stuttgart instead.
Spanish newspaper Sport revealed: "The midfielder, who a few days ago was about to join Arsenal finally accepted the offer from German club."
The youngster has also been called into Germany's under-17 squad this week, a double celebration for him.
Spanoudakis, 15, is a player whose future worth will be determined in years to come, but he would have been a low risk addition to Arsenal's academy.
At Stuttgart he joins the side from who Arsenal signed Serge Gnabry, and returns to his homeland.
