This week has seen Chelsea 'de-clutter', for want of a better phrase. Not only did they get rid of Romelu Lukaku for a whopping £28 million to Everton but they also sold talented young Swede Isak Ssewankambo to Dutch outfit NAC Breda.
Meanwhile two players on the cusp of the first-team for so long have been sent out on loan - yet again.
Ryan Bertrand has joined Southampton as a replacement for Luke Shaw while Gael Kakuta joins La Liga side Rayo Vallecano for the rest of the season - and both players have happily posed with their new kits.
Chelsea have sent a plethora of top talent out on loan in recent years and the reality is they rarely make it at Stamford Bridge. Time will tell if Thibaut Courtois, Nathaniel Chalobah, Kenneth Omeruo and Thorgan Hazard can break that tradition - but if Lukaku can't what hope for the others.
Bertrand and Kakuta certainly look like they have played their last games for Chelsea. Both could make their respective deals permanent at the end of the season - and after a combined tally of 13 loan spells between them, spreading from the Football League all the way to Italy via Spain and Holland, it would certainly be about time they took the leap.
