This summer one of the most wanted men in world football was certainly German midfield star Toni Kroos.
The ex-Bayern Munich star had just one year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena - so Bayern were slightly tied regarding their bargaining power on the talented midfield maestro.
The list of clubs reportedly keen on his signature was long - with Premier League teams on that list. Manchester United were heavily linked for most of the summer, while Chelsea were also said to be keeping tabs on the player.
But in the end it was Real Madrid who made him a Galactico. They agreed a reported fee in the region of €30 million for the talisman this summer, winning the race for his signature.
So now Kroos is beginning to settle down into life in Spain - in fact he has even found himself a place to stay. Interestingly, he is renting a home owned by a player who might have been his team-mate next season under differing circumstances.
It is reported in Spain that Kroos has in fact rented the Madrid home of Chelsea striker Fernando Torres. The German star has reportedly signed a six-year lease on Torres' house in the upmarket area of La Finca - and Kroos will be handing over €25,000 to Torres every month to rent out one of the four houses he owns in his Spanish hometown.
Kroos will live at the home with his partner Jessica and their young boy Leon - and here is hoping it is a happy haven for one of professional football's good guys.
