The Leeds United youngster scored three goals in a 5-0 victory, as Leeds demolished Glenavon in pre-season.
Chris Dawson has placed himself firmly in new Leeds United head coach, David Hockaday’s, mind after a hat-trick against Glenavon during pre-season.
The youngster is considered one of Leeds’ finest prospects, but with an influx of loan signings set to come in, including AC Milan’s Zan Benedicic who is a similar type of player, there were fears that he could slip down the pecking order.
However, his performance last night is likely to have pushed him right to the forefront of Hockaday’s thinking as he plots to make a successful start to life as Leeds boss.
The Whites ran out 5-0 winners against their Northern Irish opponents with a youthful looking side and Dawson played a starring role in the victory.
He scored his first in the 19th minute, before netting a fine solo goal for his second and completing his hat-trick by scoring a penalty, which can be seen at the top of this article.
Dawson has made one appearance for Leeds so far in his burgeoning career, but there is a hope that he can push on this year and become one of their first team regulars.
The 19-year-old is very slight in stature, but he has excellent technical ability and has been a class above a reserve and youth-team level for the club.
It looks as if he has made a positive impression over pre-season, too, and Hockaday may find himself with a selection problem if Dawson is to sustain this form for the rest of Leeds’ preparations ahead of the new season.
