All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...
Roma have been busy in the transfer market this summer, snapping up Chelsea left back Ashley Cole, Cagliari centre back Davide Astori, Valencia and Fenerbahce midfielders Seydou Keita and Salih Ucan, as well as Verona winger Juan Iturbe in a huge €30m swoop.
Yet adding another striker is still high up on Rudi Garcia's list of priorities, and a move to sign former Chelsea forward Samuel Eto'o has been mooted for some time. Now, it's believed that the Cameroon international is keen on a return to Italy with Roma having played a starring role for Inter under Jose Mourinho some four years ago.
Elsewhere, winger Juan Cuadrado impressed at the World Cup with Colombia, attracting interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United, but it's Barcelona who are most likely to make a move at this stage. Cuadrado's agent, Alessandro Lucci says that he has been in contact with the Catalan giants.
"With Barcelona, as with other clubs, I have been in contact for some time. There has been an expression of interest, but to date, there has been no offer – from Barcelona or any other club. The Catalan club are represented by a series of people, and our conversations have been strictly professional. If there were to be, in the near future, an offer, then first it would have to be analysed by Fiorentina with the gratification of all the stakeholders."
Finally, Sampdoria are posed to allow Argentine World Cup goalkeeper Sergio Romero to join Benfica, meaning they need to sign a shot stopper ahead of the new season. It seems that the leading candidate is Emiliano Viviano - who, of course, spent last season on loan with Arsenal. The 28-year-old could leave Palermo this summer, and Sampdoria manager Sinisa Mihajlovic is hoping to bring him to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
