Filipe Luis has wasted no time settling in a Chelsea and he posted a sneak peak of their pre-season training camp on Instagram last night.
In the picture, he is shown jostling for possession with Didier Drogba – who also completed a move to Chelsea this summer.
Luis joined up from Atletico Madrid and is expected to be a pivotal figure in Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side this season.
He was brought in as a replacement for Ashley Cole, who has departed for Roma, and he will have to adapt to life quickly as he is likely to come in as Chelsea first-choice left-back.
Cesar Azpilicueta was generally favoured in that position by Mourinho last season, but the Spanish defender prefers to play on the other side of defence and having a specialist left-back was considered a priority by the Portuguese boss this season.
Luis was selected as the man to replace Cole because of his form during Atletico’s run to the Champions League final last season and in their successful La Liga campaign.
The Brazilian born 28-year-old cost the Blues around £16 million to sign, but he will be well worth the money if he performs as hoped and helps Chelsea to the Premier League title, which they will be aiming for this season.
It certainly looks as if he is making the most of training with his new team and there will be few physical tests that are tougher than competing with Drogba for him in the upcoming season.
