CONFIRMED: Newcastle United line-up v Sheffield Wednesday

Here's how Newcastle line-up against Sheffield Wednesday this evening, kick-off at 19:45 GMT.

Newcastle United: Elliot; Satka, Yanga-Mbiwa, Dummett, Haidara; Tiote (c), Abeid; Obertan, Armstrong, Perez; Riviere

Newcastle United have responded brilliantly to losing their first pre-season friendly 2-1 away at Oldham Athletic.

Wins against Sydney and Wellington have put the side in a good vein of form heading into a potentially more difficult match against Championship side Sheffield Wednesday this evening.

It’s a chance for Alan Pardew to run the rule over several youngsters and fringe players in his squad, who he’ll be expecting to challenge the players who he’ll be considering starting against champions Manchester City in a couple of weeks.

Pardew will also be hoping that his side’s defence can put another clean sheet together, which would mean the side haven’t conceded a goal for three games which bodes well for that tough Premier League opener.

Newcastle have another four friendly games they can use to experiment following this match with Malaga, Schalke, Huddersfield and Real Sociedad all providing different forms of quality and competition.
