According to the Daily Mail, highly-rated 16-year-old Oscar Borg is set to complete a life-changing move to Manchester United, following a successful trial period with the club.
The West Ham youngster has been training with the Red Devils over the last couple of weeks and during his time he has featured in a friendly for the Under 18 side against local side FC Trafford, whilst starting in both of the club’s games in the Milk Cup.
Having been likened to Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, and considering he is already competing five years above his age level, Borg looks to have a very bright future in the game. Capable of playing as a left full-back or as a winger, it is clear to see why comparisons with the Welsh wizard have arisen.
Borg’s form with the West Ham under 16s last season saw him earn a debut with the U18s and finish the campaign on the bench with the U21s. However, reports suggest he has turned down the opportunity to sign professional terms with the Hammers as he favours a move to Manchester.
He is set to cost the club around £250,000, but as he is not signed on as a scholar at Upton Park he is free to move. This would be considered a small price to pay if he can even come close to the current level of Bale.
