Vidic sets Inter season objectives

Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has spoken of his objectives for his first season with Inter.

Inter new boy Nemanja Vidic believes that the Nerazzurri should be aiming for Champions League qualification this season.

Serbian international Vidic joined Inter on a free transfer after his contract at Manchester United expired following eight years at Old Trafford.

The coming season will see Inter attempt to improve on a disappointing 2013-14 campaign where they dropped out of the title race at an early stage.

Inter did manage to book a place in this season's Europa League, but Vidic wants his new side to go one better.

"We have two big objectives for the coming season: to play better and to secure a Champions League place," Vidic said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I will only be happy if we achieve those targets.

"Should we sign Javier Hernandez? He's a very good player, a classic first striker with a nose for goal but Inter director Piero Ausilio knows very well how to do his job.

"M'Vila? He has to get back in shape but he has made an excellent impression on me."

Inter open their 2014-15 campaign with a tough away day at Torino, who were one of last season's surprise packages.
