Arturo Vidal has a verbal agreement to join Manchester United this summer according to a report in Chile.
Newspaper El Mercurio claims the 27-year-old midfielder has the agreement – but only verbally at this stage – to move to the club that has been heavily linked with him all summer.
But before United fans get too excited, the simple fact is there are rumours on top of rumours right now and, until anything is confirmed, chalk everything up as mere speculation.
That is the bread and butter of the transfer window, with players linked with new clubs left, right and centre. But in the case of Vidal the rumours are persisting at such a rate that there could well be something in them.
Vidal has previously said that he would be happy to remain in Italy, while Juventus supremo Beppe Moratta has said on more than one occasion that the player is content at the club at which he only recently agreed a new long-term deal.
But talk of a huge bid from United persists, and it will be interesting to see how Juventus react if Louis van Gaal’s side does make their move in the days or weeks ahead.
