The young Spaniard sees a player in Coutinho who resembles a lot of his countrymen.
Suso - who has revealed that he is in discussions over a possible new contract at Anfield - is likely to be in direct competition with the Brazilian this season if he stays at the club and isn't sent on loan again after spending last term at Almeria.
Both players seem comfortable in a number 10 position that is just off the main strikers, and like to play as more of a provider rather than a goalscorer.
The 20-year-old is quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “Coutinho is like a Spanish type player.
“He reminds me of Spanish players with the qualities he has. He's so good on the ball and has quick feet.
“It's incredible for me to see him train every day and see how he does things.
“Maybe we are similar with the ball but I know I can learn from him.”
Similarities that are cited are their technical ability and the fact they can play off the flanks if they are required to do so. But they both face stiff competition to get a regular starting place this season given the signings of Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic in particular.
However, with the injury Lallana has sustained which is likely to keep him out of the opening exchanges of the season, both players are likely to have a chance to impress.
Coutinho has been talked up a lot in recent weeks with manager Brendan Rodgers even implying he could carry the same kind of importance that Luis Suarez did for the club during his time at Anfield.
Suso may have his work cut out getting into the side ahead of Coutinho as a result. The 20-year-old has expressed his desire of just wanting to play football and whether he gets sufficient game time at Anfield this season remains to be seen.
However, although Coutinho and Suso may be competitors, they can perhaps spur each other on to a higher performance level.
