The Hitman movie of 2007 was... alright, I guess. And as we all know, movies of video games are generally rubbish. So the fact another Hitman movie is in production only brings with it a sense of extreme hesitation, but also a slight feeling of misguided hope, as I’m quite a fan of the video games.
Hitman: Agent 47 is being worked on by 20th Century Fox and stars Rupert Friend (Homeland) as the bald-headed, bar-code burdened assassin. Paul Walker was said to be originally cast in the part, but Friend stepped in after Walker’s untimely death last year. Zachary Quinto (Star Trek Into Darkness), Hannah Ware (Betrayal) and Thomas Kretschmann (Stalingrad) co-star in the movie.
The first footage of the movie was shown at San Diego Comic Con this weekend, and SlashFilm reported that the trailer showed a more ‘all guns blazing’ style Hitman, rather than the silent assassin type you’d expect. Could this be another mindless action shooter movie, or could we see a true representation of what made Agent 47 so popular from the games in the first place?
Take a look at some of the first images of the movie below, and let us know what you think. Thanks, Polygon.
Hitman: Agent 47 is due to arrive in cinemas from 27th February 2015.
