Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp recently admitted that he liked Rafael van der Vaart, leading to suggestions that he could reunite with his former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder at Loftus Road.
"He's a great footballer, great professional and a goal-scorer," Redknapp told West London Sport.
"He'd get you 10 to 12 goals a year in that position. He's an interesting player and has got class."
But former football Jan Aage Fjortoft, who is now a journalist specialising in the Bundesliga, has warned Redknapp not to expect the same player who starred for Spurs.
Now 31, van der Vaart plays for Bundesliga side Hamburg, and Fjortoft took to Twitter to say the following:
"Looks like Redknapp and QPR want van der Vaart again. Sorry Harry! This is not the van der Vaart you had at Tottenham."
The player scored 28 goals in 77 games for Spurs, but last season he scored just eight times in 32 games in Germany.
With a contract until the summer of 2015, van der Vaart's current club may be tempted to do business. But Fjortoft appears to be unsure if it would be the best business...at least not if Redknapp is expecting to sign the player he had at his former club.
