Manchester United have been frequently linked with Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij, but he now looks set to sign for Lazio.
Lazio are still smarting after losing out on defender Davide Astori who chose to join city rivals Roma instead.
And the capital club are attempting to take away the bitter taste by completing a deal for De Vrij, who has been on their radar for some time.
Lazio chief Claudio Lotito has a fragile relationship with fans and is determined to deliver De Vrij after the Astori snub, which further antagonised the supporters.
Lotito has sent Tare to Rotterdam in the hope of finding a compromise between Lazio's bid and Feyenoord's valuation.
The difference between the two figures is reportedly minimal. It is being suggested that the Dutch side want around £8 million while Lazio are looking to pay £6.3 million.
It shouldn't be too difficult to find an agreement and De Vrij is said to be keen to make the move, so everything could be settled within the week.
Should Manchester United have signed Stefan de Vrij?
