Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to make Southampton's woes worsen as, following on from the transfers of Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers are the prospective exits of Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez, all of whom - combined - were responsible for 76% of the South Coast club's goals last season.
Out of all the clubs competing for European places in the Premier League in the coming season, Tottenham have been uncharacteristically quiet, with the dual acquisitions of Ben Davies and Michel Vorm costing £5 million.
Should moves for Rodriguez and Schneiderlin bear fruit, then it is likely to prove costly for the White Hart Lane club, however, they will be encouraged to learn that there were certain things midfielder Schneiderlin did better than any other England-based footballing athlete last season.
Over the past two seasons, Schneiderlin made more interceptions - 208 - and tackles - 259 - than any other player in the Premier League.
He also compares favourably to Sandro, as the Brazilian was responsible for two defensive errors last term while Schneiderlin returned a clean sheet.
