Liverpool latest: Interest in winger remains; ‘not possible’ Remy failed medical says Redknapp

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Anfield…

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has been speaking following reports claiming Loic Remy had failed his Liverpool medical.

The £8.5million deal is now off, but in quotes published by the BBC, Redknapp voiced his surprise at the recent stories.

“Reports have come out that he failed a medical,” the QPR boss said. “That’s not possible. He’s a very fit lad, there has to be another reason.”

For now it remains a mystery, but one thing is for sure: Liverpool will need to strengthen up front before the new Premier League campaign kicks off next month.

But one striker unlikely to be arriving at Anfield is Wilfried Bony.

Reports this morning claimed Liverpool were not interested in the Swansea City striker. And now the Swans’ manager Garry Monk has claimed the Ivory Coast international is not for sale anyway.

In quotes published by the Express, Monk said, “We’ve had no contact from anyone at all.

“At the end of the day he’s not for sale, unless someone comes in with an astronomical offer.”

So he is for sale then…but only if crazy money is involved.

And finally, Stoke City have not given up in their pursuit of Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi.

The winger’s move has been in doubt for some time, but speaking to the Sentinel, Stoke boss Mark Hughes said, “It’s ongoing and these things happen.

“Everybody knows we are interested and that is still the case.”
