Liverpool signing Lazar Markovic made his debut for the club in the 1-0 win over Olympiakos.
Injury may have meant Adam Lallana remains on the sidelines, but attacking signing Lazar Markovic made his eagerly anticipated debut last night.
The Serbian winger featured from the start in the 1-0 win over Olympiakos, in which Raheem Sterling scored the winner.
Markovic was praised by manager Brendan Rodgers for his performance, who said in his press conference:
"Markovic will only get better and better. He showed great strength when he burst through and hopefully later on when he picks up that speed and sharpness in his game, he'll go on and finish that."
HITC writer Ian Capasso was at the Soldier Field Stadium in Chicago, graded the attacker as a 7/10 in his player ratings, adding:
"Turned in an encouraging 45 minute shift. Went on several trademark mazy runs, leaving defenders in his wake. Did brilliantly to beat a pair of defenders and burst in alone on goal at one point, but agonisingly fired wide of the mark."
It was the first game Markovic had played since his £20 million signing from Benfica, who he helped win the Portuguese league title in his one and only season at the club.
Here is a look at how Liverpool fans reacted on Twitter to his performance:

Liking the look of Markovic down the left, pace power speed and comfortable on the ball, not seen enough of Emre Can to make a call. #LFC— Philip Wolfe (@PhilieWolfe) July 27, 2014
