Tottenham latest: club miss out on Griezmann, Eriksen target of Italian club

A selection of the latest transfer stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Monday evening.

Tottenham have missed out on French Antoine Griezmann with the winger heading to La Liga Champions Atletico Madrid.

The London Evening Standard reports that Spurs had a £15 million bid rejected by Real Sociedad for the 23-year-old, who also attracted interest from North London rivals Arsenal.

Midfielder Christian Eriksen is a transfer target for Serie A side Napoli according to the Metro.

The article cites reports in Italy claiming the side that won last season's Coppa Italia are weighing up a move for the Dane, though Eriksen has been quoted saying he's happy at White Hart Lane during the last season.

However, Valon Behrami has been a reported target of Spurs, and the club may have received a boost as TalkSport are reporting that Behrami has had a bust up with head coach Rafa Benitez at Napoli.

As a result, there is more speculation surrounding the future of the 29-year-old.

Defender Jan Vertonghen has said he is flattered to be linked with a move to Barcelona but the chances of him joining the Spanish giants appear to be slim after he confirmed that he's been offered a five-year deal by the club in order to keep him at White Hart Lane, according to the Guardian who cite a Belgian broadcaster.

Vertonghen said: “I still had a four-year contract but I see that they have offered me a new five-year contract as a great sign of confidence. It goes without saying that I would like to stay at Tottenham.”

The Evening Standard has also picked up on another part of the interview, which seems to go along with Vertonghen apparently crowd surfing whilst injured at a Belgian music festival.
