Henderson spoke highly of the new signing from Benfica, following the Reds 1-0 win over Olympiacos.
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has hailed the signing of Lazar Markovic from Benfica after he made his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt in the Reds' 1-0 win over Olympiacos in Chicago last night.
Markovic was an impressive performer on the left flank as his pace and technique stood out, and those were two qualities that made the club splash out £20 million for the player.
Henderson was impressed with the performance of the Serbian international, telling the Liverpool website after the game: "It's his first game and he gelled really well. He kept getting the ball, taking players on; he looked really lively so I think he'll be delighted with his game.
"He's very creative; he's great with the ball, playing one-twos and [making] runs in behind all the time so he's a great threat for us going forward, especially on the counter-attack.
"He's a great signing and a great plus for us."
Markovic is certainly a player that gives Liverpool more options in the final third, and looked busy during the win over the Greek champions as he covered a lot of ground and relished the battle with his opponents.
Though he played predominantly on the left side, he is comfortable on the opposite flank which also gives Brendan Rodgers a lot of options - it is unsurprising that the club bought a versatile player given that Rodgers seemingly likes his players to have the ability of playing more than the one position in most cases.
He's a technically gifted player that seems to offer flexibility and is getting the praise of his team-mates, and Markovic will be hoping to build on this promising start.
