First team, loan, U21 - Mourinho confirms which Chelsea youngsters will be doing what in 2014/15

Mourinho Press Conference Still

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed which Chelsea youngsters will be in his first team squad next season.

After four pre-season friendlies, Jose Mourinho has made his mind up which of his Chelsea young guns will be where next season.

He has selected two defenders as key in stepping up to the first team.

He told Chelsea's website: "We are going to have (Andreas) Christensen and (Nathan) Ake, who are 19-years-old and coming from the Academy.

"We are going to have training with us, but also playing for the Under-21 team, (Dominic) Solanke, (Jeremie) Boga and (Izzy) Brown.

"The other ones who are a bit older, 20 or 21, we feel they need to compete against men in a different league, people like Bamford, Swift, Chalobah. They are ready to go to other clubs and have a good loan."

Solanke, Boga and Brown can therefore hope to make their impact for the first team in the Capital One Cup, while Ake and Christensen's chances may come sooner.

Thanks to the loans of Kalas and Omeruo, Kurt Zouma is the only specialist centre-back behind Terry and Cahill, and both can hope to make appearances, although Ivanovic is another alternative.

Ake's versatility to feature in midfield, and the fact he has also done so for the first team during Rafa Benitez's tenure makes him the better bet of the two to see first team action.

One key name not mentioned is star of the under-21 side last season, Lewis Baker, but he will likely fit into the category of his teammate in the side John Swift.
