Newcastle United may miss out on Chilean international Mauricio Isla unless they come in with a bid soon.
One of Isla's most attractive qualities is his versatility as he can play either in defence or as a winger or a centre-back, but he seems to be surplus to requirements for the Italian champions.
Isla is likely to leave Juventus before next season and there were reports that Newcastle had prepared a bid for the 26-year-old.
However, the Magpies appear to have backed away from any immediate move and Fiorentina are reportedly ready to pounce.
The Old Lady are said to be ready to offer a part-exchange deal with Isla, who is a target for Fiorentina, moving to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
However, it is suggested that there may be two significant stumbling blocks in the transfer negotiations, which are ongoing this week.
Fiorentina seem to be looking for a sum of money in addition to Savic and Isla's wage demands may well be beyond the Viola.
There may still be time for Newcastle to jump in and land Isla should they wish to, but at present that doesn't look likely to happen.
