Liverpool's latest signing has been given a shirt number for next season.
Following his £20million signing, Liverpool have announced that Dejan Lovren will wear the number 6 shirt next season.
The Croatian centre-back is the latest in an impressive list of summer arrivals, and he looks set to step straight into the Reds’ back-line next season.
Lovren shone in his one and only campaign at Southampton and having already experienced – and excelled in – the Premier League, his signing is one of limited risk.
Former Liverpool greats to wear the number 6 shirt include Alan Hansen and Emlyn Hughes, so the new arrival is in very good company.
The last player to wear the shirt was Luis Alberto, whose first season at Anfield did not go according to plan. He has since been loaned to Spanish side Malaga, where he will be hoping to improve on his disappointing campaign in England.
But there should be no such worries for Lovren, who may have been pricey, but who is exactly the type of quality defender Rodgers needs as he looks ahead to a new campaign.
