A seemingly imminent signing at Anfield haws caused a stir at Atletico Madrid as manager Diego Simeone may have attempted a last-gasp bid.
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone may have inadvertently admitted that the La Liga champions were looking at muscling in on Divock Origi, a player seemingly on the cusp of a Liverpool transfer according to weekend reports.
On Saturday, the Daily Star quoted "reports in Belgium" when publishing a story regarding Origi's apparent five year deal at Anfield.
The teenage talent, who scored five goals in a breakout season for Lille in Ligue 1 last year, was alleged to have passed a medical at the Premier League hopefuls last Friday, ahead of a £10 million switch.
At the same time, though, MARCA quote Atletico boss Simeone to have commented on his top targets - Antoine Griezmann and Divock Origi being priority recruits.
"Origi is a good player – fast, dynamic. He did a good job when he took [Romelu] Lukaku's place [in the Belgium team]."
Origi, 19, is a left-sided forward but is capable of plying centre forward and on the right.
