Wilshere on Arsenal's transfer strategy

England playmaker Jack Wilshere has praised the London club's transfer business this summer.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been talking to Sky Sports about the club's different tact when it comes to bringing in players this summer.

It looks like Arsene Wenger has come good on his desire to only buy players that will improve the squad, rather than make signings for the sake of it. There can be little doubt that the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy and recently announced goalkeeping arrival David Ospina have brought the level of quality up in this Arsenal team, especially considering all three are World Cup quarter finalists.

The England star admitted that Wenger normally tends to do his business later in the window, and stated that it was good to get players recruited early, especially when they are of the quality of the internationals the Gunners have signed.

"Normally I'm on holiday and we don't make any signings," said the 22-year-old. "We make signings a little bit later.

"This year we've really been positive and we've gone into the market and got a couple of great players.

"They're only going to fit into this team.

Wilshere paid special tribute to Chilean star Alexis Sanchez, describing him as the best player on the pitch when England met the South American nation at Wembley last year.

"You could see what Sanchez did at the World Cup. I played against him for England and he was the best player on the pitch. You've got to be a good player to play for Barcelona.

"Also, the French fullback who played every game at the World Cup - they're two great signings and we're really looking forward to them coming in."

Since his interview Colombian number one Ospina has joined from Nice in a budget £3 million deal, while versatile Southampton fullback Callum Chambers is also on the cusp of a move.

Exciting times for Arsenal fans I'm sure you'll agree.
