Fernando Torres missed a sitter against NK Olimpija this afternoon.
Chelsea have taken on NK Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia this afternoon and it was a good day for their newbies.
Chelsea went 1-0 down in the Slovenian capital but a goal from Diego Costa, assisted by fellow new signing Cesc Fabregas, levelled the scoring.
Then not long after another new signing scored - Kurt Zouma finishing after the goalkeeper had parried. Branislav Ivanovic then had a goal bizarrely disallowed as Chelsea began to click.
But some things never change, as Spanish striker Fernando Torres continued to disappoint in front of goal. Nathan Ake ran on to a delightful pass at the far post and cut the ball back for Torres, who had a gaping goal in front of him.
You could make some excuses for Torres. The ball came at him a little fast and at a difficult (ish) position - but he should have scored.
Instead the ball ricocheted off his chest and well wide and high of the goal. Romelu Lukaku might not want to pack his bags just yet, while Didier Drogba must be licking his lips.
