Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking about the possibility of new faces arriving at White Hart Lane this summer.
Having completed deals for Swansea City pair Ben Davies and Michel Vorm, Spurs have also been linked with a new striker as well as Pochettino’s former Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
But in a recent interview published in the London Evening Standard, the Tottenham boss refused to be drawn regarding specific targets.
“We’re trying to improve the squad but I never speak about players from other clubs,” he said. “I have respect. I’m just focused on my team.”
In an age when rumours are everywhere and sorting fact from fiction is harder than ever, it must be somewhat tedious for a football manager to be questioned on every single hypothetical in and out. And yet Pochettino is the latest boss to refuse to comment on specific targets, instead opting to conduct his business behind closed doors.
It remains to be seen if any of Pochettino’s former Saints players will join him in London. But Spurs will almost certainly be relatively busy in the transfer market before it slams shut in just a few short weeks.
