Arsenal have confirmed that David Ospina will join them from Nice this summer.
Widespread reports had linked the goalkeeper with the Gunners for some time, even before his coach at the French club went public to reveal a deal had been done.
But now Arsenal have made it official, with messages on both their website and their Twitter account.
Ospina shone for Colombia at this summer’s World Cup, and the 25-year-old will now compete with the Gunners’ current number one Wojciech Szczesny.
The club’s website revealed that Ospina will join Arsenal on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee, which has previously been suggested is around £3million.
Ospina will join fellow new recruits Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy at the Emirates Stadium, with Southampton’s Calum Chambers tipped to follow for around £16million in due course.
Arsene Wenger has not waited around this summer, impressing with his transfer dealings to date. And it will be interesting to see if the Frenchman also secures a much-needed defensive midfielder prior to the new Premier League campaign.
