The close-season is a time for footballers to unwind and - in the case of Arsenal player Lukas Podolski and a few lucky teammates - reflect on a World Cup winning campaign.
But following his country's impress exploits in Brazil this summer, Podolski has returned to Poland where he visited his former home.
In a post on his official Instagram account, the Arsenal frontman wrote the following message to accompany the photograph.
'Back to the roots. Regards from Sosnica, Poland. This is where I come from, where I took my first steps. Home'
The message is one we should all remember, and it reminds us that no matter how much money footballers earn and no matter where in the world their career takes them, many started from humble beginnings.
Podolski will soon return to North London to begin a new campaign with Arsenal. But for now he is taking a trip down memory lane. And with the joy of social media, it is a trip his fans can follow him on.
How important do you think Podolski will be for Arsenal next season?
