After opening up the Destiny beta to everyone a couple of days ago, Bungie has now put out the word that they’ll be opening up The Moon. Previously players could only explore he Tower, Old Russia on Earth, and fight in PVP in the Crucible.
Community Manager at Bungie, David ‘Deej’ Dogue, said;
“We’re even sending you on a new story mission. For this one, you’ll be glad you scrounged that jump drive from the wastes of the Cosmodrome. You don’t need us to tell you where you’re headed. We’ve marked it on the map since the moment when the Beta Build became a secret whispered about by only our friends and family. This new destination will be open to you for two hours.”
We’re not sure exactly when The Moon will be opened up, but there’s a stress test being performed tonight at 10pm BST (2pm PDT), and if you're playing at that time you'll unlock a special nameplate for use in the full game when in launches. Perhaps the Moon will be unlocked during the test?
The blog update also says that the beta may not end tomorrow – “The Wolf, our Theoretical Physicist, has told me that he wants some room to maneuver close to the conclusion of our little social experiment. So, I’m not telling you exactly when. Please play until we nail this thing shut,” states Deej.
We’ve been playing the beta this week, so keep an eye out for our impressions coming soon.
